Year 3/4A, Term 4 Curriculum Overview 2023
Term 4
Dear Parents and Carers, It's hard to believe that we're already approaching the end of the school year! What an incredible journey it has been with our Year 3/4 students. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to all the parents for your unwavering support throughout the year. Your involvement, encouragement, and partnership have been invaluable, and I'm truly thankful for the trust you've placed in me and our school community. Together, we've created an environment where our students have thrived and flourished. As we enter Term 4, we have a lot of exciting activities and events lined up to celebrate their achievements and make this term truly memorable. Now, let's dive into what makes Term 4 so special. Carols Night: We're kicking off the festive spirit with our much-anticipated Carols Night. Our brilliant Year 3 and Year 4 students will showcase their musical talents as they sing their hearts out in a wonderful evening of music, lights, and Christmas cheer. It's a magical way to start the festive season and bring our school community together. The Colour Fun Run: Get ready to splash some colour and have a blast with our annual Colour Fun Run! This event is not only loads of fun, but it also promotes physical fitness and teamwork. Students will have a chance to run, laugh, and create colourful memories they'll cherish for years to come. In Term 4, we will bring together everything we've learned throughout the year. It's a time for students to showcase their growth, apply their skills, and take pride in their accomplishments. We'll also take time to reflect on our achievements and set goals for the future. This is a valuable opportunity for students to think about their progress and plan for success in the years ahead. This term will have plenty of celebrations and fun activities to mark the end of the year. From our end-of-year party to special awards and recognition, there will be lots of smiles and laughter. As we approach the end of the year, I want to emphasise the importance of cherishing these moments together. The friendships formed, the knowledge gained, and the personal growth experienced are all part of the incredible journey of education. Once again, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to parents for your continuous support and partnership in your child's education. Your involvement is truly the foundation of our success, and I appreciate the trust you've placed in me as their teacher. Let's make Term 4 a time of celebration, learning, and joy. It's an opportunity for us to reflect on how far we've come and to look forward to the bright future that awaits our amazing Year 3/4 students. Speaking of celebrations, Trinity Beach State School will be hosting an award night on Thursday 9th of November from 6pm – 7:30pm (Week 6). Families of students who will be receiving an award will be invited to the Awards Night event over the coming weeks. This ceremony recognises the outstanding achievements of our students throughout their final year of primary school in all areas of academics, sport, the Arts as well as recognizing service to the local community. Thank you for entrusting your children to us this year. It has been an honour and a privilege to be part of their educational journey. Kind Regards Mrs Rivera |

Reading & Spelling
Our school continues to embed a whole school approach to reading and spelling across Prep to Year 6. This involves teaching the reading and spelling demands of the Australian Curriculum, providing students with a systematic synthetic phonics approach and unpacking the Big 6/Science of Reading through engaging and meaningful lessons. Students engage with decodable texts when learning to read and rich authentic texts when reading to learn and continue to use the PLD approach for their spelling and sound focus
Homework
Our homework focus will support our HASS Places and Sustainability unit. 3/4A will be learning about neighbouring countries and identifying natural and human features, climate, population density and sustainability issues within Africa and South America.
These homework tasks may require you to have some equipment to complete some of the activities. Students have their log on details as it has not changed since last term.
Again, homework is not essential but recommended. I also understand that you may have other commitments and family routines that may not allow for homework to be completed. Complete activities over the term at your own pace. You may want to complete one lesson over a week if that suits your household and time best. Students will have the term to complete all activities.
