Year 6 Term 2 2024 Curriculum Overview
Term overview
Welcome to Term 2! It’s great to see everyone back ready for the term. Term 2 is a very busy term with lots of events on so it is important that students are at school every day. Being organised and ready to start the day is essential to your child’s education. Students should have all their equipment ready to start each day. Please check with your child regularly that they have everything they need for school, particularly consumables and easily misplaced items such as pencils, erasers, glue, rulers etc. These often need replacing each term. The assessment schedule for Term 2 is included in this outline (see table below), this provides a good insight into what your child is working on in class and their assessment task. If you have any questions regarding this please contact your child’s classroom teacher. We look forward to a positive and productive term. BYOX Update: In term 2, our Year 6 BYOX program has witnessed remarkable achievements. Throughout this period, we have embraced various digital platforms such as Qlearn, Seesaw, Epic, Study Ladder, and several others, all serving as essential pillars in bolstering our educational endeavours. Students enthusiastically immerse themselves in interactive online activities, finding joy in completing tasks and engaging in vibrant discussions across these platforms. Furthermore, their adeptness in online assessments has shown steady growth, underscoring their evolving proficiency in digital learning. This dynamic integration of technology not only enhances our educational experience but also fosters a deeper engagement with the curriculum, preparing students for the challenges of a digitally-driven world. Important dates: Reef Trip: 22nd & 23rd of April TCN Cross Country for selected 10-12year old’s- 3rd of May School Disco- 12th of June Senior Athletics: 17th- 19th of June Information and forms for the reef trip will be going home towards the end of Term 2. Students research occupations in design technologies and the steps they consider with designing a solution. Students find out what sustainability means and why it is important for design technology. Knowledge is shared with the students regarding the design solutions; products, services, environment they will use to create/modify/adapt to meet user needs at home or at school. Students use design and system thinking in creating their design solution, plan and present a proposal to leadership and parents using a digital tool.
