Improvement Priority 1: Making Learning Visible in Our Classrooms
We remain committed to supporting both teachers and students in the initiative of Making Learning Visible. Guided by Lyn Sharratt’s research, we are transforming our classrooms to enhance student engagement and autonomy.
Students are increasingly taking ownership of their learning by utilising purposefully designed classroom walls to reflect on their progress, analyse their work and identify their next steps.
To facilitate this process, we are focusing on five key questions that encourage student responses and promote deeper engagement:
- What are you learning in English with your writing?
- How are you going?
- How do you know?
- How can you improve? What are your next steps?
- Where can you go for help?
Through this framework, we aim to create a more dynamic and interactive learning environment that empowers students to take charge of their educational journey.
Celebrating the Arts: Nurturing Student Creativity
We are proud to continue supporting our students in the Arts, with a focus on performing arts, visual arts, and music. These areas allow all students to explore and express their unique talents. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Encore and Arts Showcase this week; we are immensely proud of what our students have achieved under the guidance of our dedicated teachers and support staff.

School Tours: A Glimpse into Our Vibrant Learning Culture
We are excited to welcome new families to our school, including our youngest future learners—the Prep students for 2025. Positions are filling quickly, so if you know any families who haven't yet enrolled their child for 2025, please encourage them to act soon. We consider out-of-catchment enrolments on a case-by-case basis. Give your child an outstanding start to their educational journey with us! Please follow our Facebook page and see out calendar for school tours and Prep Stay and Play sessions.

Mental Health Week Focus: Supporting Our Students, Staff and Community
This week, we have celebrated Mental Health Week in partnership with various organisations. Thank you to everyone who attended our morning events and activities. Taking a moment to breathe, reflect on what we are grateful for and check in on those around us is invaluable. The well-being of our students, staff and community is a priority for all of us.
Working Bee: Beautification of Our School Grounds
Join us for our second beautification event of the year on Friday, October 25, starting at 3 PM. Last term's event was a tremendous success and we appreciate the support of our Schools’ Officer, Mr. Greg, and our leading Beautification Officer, Natalie. Whether you can spare 15 minutes or more, we would love your help with pruning, mulching, weeding, and fertilizing our gardens to keep them looking their best. The P&C will provide soft drinks and a sausage sizzle as a thank-you for your time and effort.
News from the Prep - Year 2 Deputy Principal

Wow! Can you believe that we are already in Term 4? It is hard to believe we are on the home stretch for the 2024 school year! There is a lot of learning still happening in our classrooms with students pulling the whole year together to culminate their learning. There are also excursions, incursions and lots of other exciting events happening throughout the term including the Art Show and Encore! It is so exciting to spend time in classrooms. Students are so enthusiastic to share their learning and their goals they are working towards. I am so proud of all our amazing students and also their dedicated teachers who work tirelessly to ensure that all students are able to achieve their best!
Before and after school drop offs, pick ups and supervision
We are noticing an increase of students in the year 1 and 2 grades being dropped off before 8.15am with some students arriving at 7.40am and being left under the Junior Learning Centre (JLC). There is no supervision before 8.15am. Any families that need to drop off prior to 8.15am should be accessing the Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) for appropriate care for their child/ren.
Students dropped off from 8.15 need to make their way to the Covered Outdoor Learning Centre (COLA) to sit until the 8.30 bell with supervision. At 8.30 they will be released to go to their classroom areas.
This is the same for pick up at 3pm. All students need to be picked up at 3pm or be enrolled in OSHC. We continue to see issues after school with students who are left to stay and play instead of being picked up at 3pm. There is no supervision provided by the school and students are to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. Students should not be playing soccer or other sports while waiting for their parents. I thank you for your support is keeping all students safe.
Prep 2025
Stay and plays are almost here for our 2025 Preps! These sessions are designed to support our 2025 preppies to have a strong start to their schooling journey. If you have a child born between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020 they are eligible for prep in 2025. I would strongly encourage you to complete your enrolment paperwork and submit it to the school administration team who will then give you access to book an enrolment interview and book in for the Stay and Play sessions. Handing in your enrolment paperwork also supports the school with their staffing for 2025 as we need to work out how many classes we need, based on the number of enrolments we have.

Year 6 – Short Stories.
Throughout last term, the year 6 students focussed on writing a Historical Narrative E-Book about a child refugee arriving in Australia. The sample below is an original short story, with the images created using an AI generator tool in CANVA. To generate effective images, students had to be really creative and succinct with their descriptions to produce well-connected images.

News from the Head of Inclusive Education

In Term 4, our focus in the Inclusive Education Centre is to ensure students are ready to begin transition to their new year levels and classes for 2024.
Transition for students starting Prep
Students with additional needs are supported by our Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP), Jade Kerkhoven, to transition to our school. Jade’s work with children 0-5 years and their families supports them to become part of the Trinity Beach State School community. In addition to supporting families and children at playgroup, she also supports children in their early years centres and supports students during ‘Prep 2025 Stay and Play’ sessions.
Year Level to Year Level
Students with additional needs already enrolled at our school experience transition from their current year level to their next year level by becoming familiar with staff, students, play spaces and learning areas. We do this incidentally and intentionally so that students are well prepared for 2025.
Year 6 to High School
Students in Year 6 begin preparation for Year 7 and high school early in the school year. In Term 3, students with additional needs meet teachers and staff from Smithfield State High School and work with SSHS Staff and Year 6 IEC Teacher Lisa Croatto. In Term 4, students with additional needs visit Smithfield State High School each week and put theory from Term 3 into practice as they get to know all about high school.
Resources
The Department of Education has some great resources for transition for students with autism (that are useful resources for all children) including the online Transition Resource package found here https://autismhub.education.qld.gov.au/resources/online-transition-resource
If you would like support or ideas for transition for your child, please see me in the Inclusive Education Centre.
Kind regards,
Samantha Ilic

News from the Guidance Officer

A note from the Guidance Officer….
This week is Mental Health Week – our school has had some events throughout the week for families, students and staff to support good mental health.
Parenting can present some tricky situations – how do you know if your child may need assistance with their mental health? This Mental Health Week, I would like to share some excellent resources to support mental health in the home – and give parents an understanding of what to look out for, if your child may be struggling.
The following links are excellent resources from Emerging Minds.
https://emergingminds.com.au/families/five-ways-to-support-your-childrens-mental-health/
If you have worries about your child’s mental health, a discussion with your GP is the best way to source support in a timely manner.
Here at school, your child’s class teacher can pass on any information or concerns from you – this can be provided to our Leadership Team, to discuss and plan supports around their mental health needs.
If you need support as a parent, Parentline is available for all parents, via phone or webchat. The number is 1300 301 300 or webchat is available at https://parentline.com.au/

Week 1 & 2

Q Parents
To continue to streamline the school’s sale for all items – school fees, excursions, performances, instrumental music we are moving to a cashless school. This allows our school to reduce the time, effort and expenses required to collect and follow up payments from parents and students. When you receive an invoice payments can be made online via BPOINT or QParents.
We are proud of being a relatively-cashless school and thank you for moving online with us!
QParents
QP is an online portal helping the school move toward a cashless and paper friendly school.
- The QP portal allows Parents and Carers to grant participation consent online for activities such as swimming and excursions which reduces our need to print out paper consent forms
- Also, the QP portal enables Parents and Carers to make payment online for school activities and viewing unpaid invoices payment history.
Thank you to all those parents who have registered for QParents. This means every registered parent now has the opportunity to access to their children’s student records at their fingertips, anytime, anywhere. Haven’t received an invitation from us yet? There’s still time! Please let us know immediately. Or if you are simply looking for further information, videos and FAQs on QParents, visit https://qparents.qld.edu.au
Student Medication

Student medication
If your child requires medication at school:
You will be asked to complete and sign the Consent to Administer Medication form.
- Medication needs to be in original packaging
- Written medical authorisation, completed pharmacy label, medical order, or action plan completed and signed by prescribing health practitioner.
Student Absences

How to report a student absence:
If your student is absent or needs to leave school early - please contact the office by:

- or call the absence line 4057 1444 - press #1
- or email: attendance@trinitybeachss.eq.edu.au
- QParents
(SMS line does not take calls and no emoji's please)

Sports News
Our school was represented at the Fowler's Netta carnival by students from Trinity Beach. Netta is a modified form of netball designed for young beginners. Many of these children have been training once a week for the past two terms. It's been great to witness their increasing confidence and skill development. The progress they made in just one day at the carnival was remarkable. They were fortunate to have a coaching session with a legend of the sport, former Diamonds player and captain, Vicki Wilson. Most importantly, their behaviour and sportsmanship throughout the day were exemplary.
