English
In this unit, students will be reading a novel together as a class. They will focus on understanding the characters and looking closely at the words and writing techniques the author uses to show who these characters are. For their assignment, students will write an essay comparing the main hero (protagonist) and the main opponent (antagonist) in the story, explaining how the author brings these characters to life. The essay will follow the structure of a typical analysis essay.
Maths
Students will be planning an end-of-year pizza party. As part of this, they’ll need to figure out how many pizza boxes and bottles of soft drinks are needed for their whole class. They will also calculate the total cost so their teacher can budget for the party. In doing this, students will practice solving problems that involve decimals, fractions, and percentages.

They will explore the purpose of businesses and how businesses provide different products and services. For their assignment, students will work in pairs to create a presentation showing their ideas for how to use a vacant block of land in Trinity Beach in a way that meets the needs and wants of the local community. |

Students use design and system thinking in creating their design solution, plan and present a proposal to leadership and parents using a digital tool.
