Principal Message
News from the Prep - Year 2 Deputy Principal

Can you believe it! The end of the 2024 school year is almost here! There are a lot of exhausted little people (and adults) that have worked so incredibly hard this year in all aspects of their schooling life.
Transitions
Transitions are about to being to support our students who are moving to a different section of the school. Next week, Prep students will go over to the JLC to learn about the expectations in the outdoor areas and how to be safe on the stairs and then will head upstairs to buddy up with a year 1 class to learn about what is the same and what is different between the prep classrooms and the year 1 classrooms. PM will also experience this and head into the M1/2 classrooms for the same experience.
Year 2 students will participate in a similar transition as well, meeting Ms McMillan and myself in the COLA to talk about their new play spaces, toilets etc and then will head into the year 3 classrooms to meet the teachers and check out their new part of the school.
Thank you
Please have a safe and festive holiday. Enjoy time as a family by putting down devices and really being present with one another. Time goes so quickly so it is important to prioritise what is really important.
Merry Christmas and I look forward to having a Happy New Year in the 2025 school year with you all!
Martina Jackman

News from the Year 3 - 6 Deputy Principal

End of the Year from the 3-6 space.
As we enter the final weeks of the year, I would like to thank our school community for all of your care and dedication in assisting our students and supporting our school. What an amazing Semester this has been. Filled with activities, high quality teaching and learning, the changing of the guard in student leadership positions, celebrating student success, and soon, our final hoorah for our year 6 students who will shortly be moving on to their next big adventure.
What has happened and what are our final key events?
Year 3:
In English this term, students have been working on creating a multimodal report on a country of interest. Our students have worked hard to investigate their selected country, and then deliver information to their class and answer questions from their peers about their chosen country. Here are some of the amazing samples of the work they have achieved this semester and their Learning Wall:

Year 5:
This term in Year 5 our students have been working hard to create a narrative for a genre specific audience (sci-fi, mystery, comedy, fantasy etc) of their choice. All classes have been working hard to upskill in their descriptive language and storytelling abilities.
As a culminating activity, students are currently creating a short film in groups which depict a narrative.

Student Leadership:
After a rigorous Student Leadership process, we are please to announce that our School Leadership Team for 2025 consists of the following well-deserving students:
Alex Pigott
Leah Seaby
Jamila Martin
Leela Keniger
Tatum Sepon Murray
Violet Mee

These diligent, caring, and innovative students are enthusiastic about becoming change makers, leading our school, giving a voice to the student body, and being role models for our students and the school community. I congratulate each future Student Leader and thank our current Student Leaders for giving our new group advice and guidance leading into their leadership journey.

Sports Captains:
On Friday of Week 9 our shortlisted Sports Captains bravely took to the stage to deliver their speeches to their House Teams:
Upolu – Michaelmas – Sudbury – Agincourt
All students delivered well-prepared and engaging speeches, focussing on how they intend to lead their teams next year. Voting will soon be counted and our School Sports Captains will be announced before the end of the year. Well-done to all students who put their hand up for these roles and participated in the speeches 😊

Philosothon:
Our Young Scholars have completed their final week of the program in week 9. A culminating event for our Young Philosophers was the Philosothon. Students worked collaboratively in teams to come up with key ideas and identify barriers to bringing back extinct species. Student use of higher order thinking skills and communication is to be applauded. Well-done Young Scholars.

Graduation:
Graduation is on its way for our year 6 students! We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone in week 11. Please remember to RSVP to your class teacher. After our Graduation we will be having a shared morning tea so please bring a plate along if you can. Looking forward to celebrating with you soon 😊

Year 6 to 7 Transition Day:

Have a safe and happy break 😊

Promoting Respectful Online Behaviour
In today’s digital age, social media connects us like never before, but it also brings challenges. One concerning issue is the use of social media to bully others, which can have serious emotional and social impacts.
At Trinity Beach State School, we are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment, both in person and online. We encourage families to have open conversations about the importance of respectful behaviour on social media platforms.
For tips and advice on navigating these challenges, we recommend visiting the eSafety Commissioner website at www.esafety.gov.au. This valuable resource provides practical tools to help young people stay safe online, report inappropriate behaviour, and build healthy online habits.
Let’s work together to ensure our digital interactions reflect the same values of kindness and mindfulness we uphold at Trinity Beach State School.

News from the Head of Inclusive Education

As the year comes to a close, we can reflect on what a great year 2024 has been for students supported though the Inclusive Education Centre, including:
- Staff and students have engaged in Making Learning Visible and ‘I can’ statements in their classrooms so students know what they are learning and why and how they can improve.
- School staff have participated in high quality professional learning opportunities linked to our Explicit Improvement Agenda such as the recent ‘Know Your Learners Day’ for Prep students starting school in 2025.
- We have supported families to access NDIS therapy supports for their child at school, offering therapy spaces on site for therapy to occur.
- We have worked with PlayMatters and The Benevolent Centre to offer both universal and tailored playgroups for children with developmental concerns in the Early Years Room 2 days per week.
- We have partnered with The Benevolent Centre to offer the ‘Tuning Into Kids’ parenting program at school to support families in the Northern Beaches.
- Parents and carers have joined school and departmental staff to participate in Care Team Meetings for their child.
- Our Early Childhood Development Program has offered support for children with additional needs in their transition to school, strengthening ties with our community and local early years centres.
- Our students have engaged in a range of excursions and events including Year 6 Camp at Camp Paterson, student leadership activities, Year 6 Reef Trip, walks to the beach and Holloways EEC, Recycling Centre and Cattana Wetlands, transition to high school, Prep Stay and Play, swimming, interschool sports, visual arts, Excellence Awards night.
Over the school holidays you might like to talk to your child to prepare them to transition to school in 2025. The Department of Education has some great resources for transition for students with autism (that are great resources for all children) including the online Transition Resource package found here https://autismhub.education.qld.gov.au/resources/online-transition-resource
Thank you to all our families for your continued support during the year, we look forward to strengthening our relationships in 2025.
Have a safe and relaxing holiday,
Samantha Ilic

News from the Head of Department Curriculum Prep - Year 6

As the year comes to an end, it’s a great time to reflect and look back at all the incredible things that have happened at our school this year. From countless excursions, encore, and great sporting events it truly has been a year to remember.
One our final school events, Carols night, is on Thursday week 10 (5/12/24). Come down from 4:30pm to enjoy the food trucks. Then enjoy the carols from 6:00pm. Remember to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on!
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers who have helped in classrooms, the library or on excursions. Without our volunteers a lot of the activities and events would simply not be able to run. If you would like to volunteer, please see your child’s teacher or the ladies in the office and they will be able to assist you.
Report cards will be emailed out Thursday week 11 (12/12/24). Please make sure you have your details updated. Student report cards will also be able to accessed through Q parents.
As the end of the year approaches, we kindly ask that all borrowed library books are returned.
Thank you all for a fantastic year!

News from the Guidance Officer

As we approach the school holiday period, it is important to know what supports exist for you, your child and family members.

Q Parents
To continue to streamline the school’s sale for all items – school fees, excursions, performances, instrumental music we are moving to a cashless school. This allows our school to reduce the time, effort and expenses required to collect and follow up payments from parents and students. When you receive an invoice payments can be made online via BPOINT or QParents.
We are proud of being a relatively-cashless school and thank you for moving online with us!
QParents
QP is an online portal helping the school move toward a cashless and paper friendly school.
- The QP portal allows Parents and Carers to grant participation consent online for activities such as swimming and excursions which reduces our need to print out paper consent forms
- Also, the QP portal enables Parents and Carers to make payment online for school activities and viewing unpaid invoices payment history.
Thank you to all those parents who have registered for QParents. This means every registered parent now has the opportunity to access to their children’s student records at their fingertips, anytime, anywhere. Haven’t received an invitation from us yet? There’s still time! Please let us know immediately. Or if you are simply looking for further information, videos and FAQs on QParents, visit https://qparents.qld.edu.au

Around the Classroom
4D Mrs Ballou had her class so engaged in reading that they didn’t want to leave for lunch…

Prep Montessori making chips from their sweet potato vegetable garden.
They did the whole life cycle, starting with a potato that started to grow in the cupboard at home, we planted it, watered it, dug them up, washed them, peeled them, cut them then fried them. Yum. Then there were some tiny ones, so we planted them again. All about the needs of living things.

Check out this writing superstar! Congratulations to Summer for persevering with her writing, even when it was a little tricky! Great job writing factual sentences about a platypus!

Prep A students Ethan, Cooper and Jack were sent to the principal’s office to show off their writing to Mr Hollis. Well done students.
