Prep - Term 3 Curriculum Overview 2023
Term 3
Welcome back to all our existing and new parents and carers in Prep. We have a busy Term 3 ahead of us with lots of exciting things happening. We also welcome Belinda Martin to our Prep team. Belinda is joining us in Prep B this Semester. It is very important for students to attend school every day so they do not miss out on any of the curriculum. It is also important for every student to have a healthy breakfast before coming to school to help their concentration and ability to learn. Thank you for the healthy lunches, remember to gauge how much food your child requires and try and limit packaged foods if possible. Please put water in the water bottles and try to avoid juice if possible. If names come off lunchboxes and water bottles, make sure you rename them throughout the year to avoid confusion. The assessment schedule for Term 3 is included in this outline. This provides a good insight into what your child is working on in class and their assessment task. If you have any questions regarding this please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Classroom doors will open at approx. 8.45am in the mornings and the playground is out of bounds as there is no supervision in place. Please make sure students are not unsupervised by you until the bell rings at 8.55am. Just a reminder… No hat, no play! Ensure you have spare clothes in your child’s bag every day. To build a sense of belonging, pride and respect, students are expected to wear their full school uniform:
Before School We encourage parents to drop students off to school after 8:30am. If students arrive before this time, they are to sit in the COLA until the 8:30am bell. The Prep team thanks you for your ongoing support and we look forward to another successful term 😊 |

- Pause empowers students to self-regulate their own behaviour by taking notice and acting on the signals they receive from their brain in a positive way.
- Wellbeiing underpins the way children feel about themselves and how they relate to others.
- Pause improves children’s wellbeing by teaching them about Neuroscience and Mindfulness.
Reading & Spelling
Our school continues to embed a whole school approach to reading and spelling across Prep to Year 6. This involves teaching the reading and spelling demands of the Australian Curriculum, providing students with a systematic synthetic phonics approach and unpacking the Big 6/Science of Reading through engaging and meaningful lessons. Students engage with decodable texts when learning to read and rich authentic texts when reading to learn and continue to use the PLD approach for their spelling and sound focus.
