Year 3/4A - Term 3 Curriculum Overview 2023
Term 3
Welcome to Term 3! We are thrilled to have you and your children back with us as we embark on a journey of learning, growth and the chance to nurture their passions in various subject areas. We hope you had a restful break and are ready to dive into the exciting opportunities that await 34A in Term 3.
This term, 3/4A will participate in 3 specialist lessons including: HPE, Music and Technology.
We are particularly excited about the upcoming excursions and art exhibitions that will occur later in the term. These opportunities will provide hands on learning experiences and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the world around us.
While we continue to encourage organisational skills by having all equipment ready and organised for the start of the day, it is also essential to assist students in time management skills. Managing time empowers them to make the most of their learning opportunities. It enables students to meet task deadlines and balance their academic and extracurricular activities successfully. We would appreciate your assistance in discussing ways they can better manage their time throughout their school day to ensure set tasks are completed in set timeframes.
To stay up-to-date, please keep an eye on the regular school newsletter and school emails that are emailed out.

- Pause teaches students the three key parts of the brain that are responsible for thinking, emotions and long term memory.
- Pause empowers students to self-regulate their own behaviour by taking notice and acting on the signals they receive from their brain in a positive way.
- Wellbeiing underpins the way children feel about themselves and how they relate to others.
- Pause improves children’s wellbeing by teaching them about Neuroscience and Mindfulness.
Reading & Spelling
Our school continues to embed a whole school approach to reading and spelling across Prep to Year 6. This involves teaching the reading and spelling demands of the Australian Curriculum, providing students with a systematic synthetic phonics approach and unpacking the Big 6/Science of Reading through engaging and meaningful lessons. Students engage with decodable texts when learning to read and rich authentic texts when reading to learn and continue to use the PLD approach for their spelling and sound focus.
Homework
Homework this term will be focused on Science and HASS. We are trialling a new and exciting way of completing our homework using an online program known as Inquisitive. 34A students will be given a class code to access interactive and hands on lessons that link to their science unit. Parents are encouraged to assist their child in accessing lessons and equipment if needed and if possible, to participate in some of these activities to support the learning journey of students
