Students recognise and analyse characteristic ideas and persuasive techniques including language features and devices, audio effects and visual composition in advertisements and their impact on the target audience. Students use appropriate metalanguage to describe the effects of persuasive techniques used on a breakfast cereal package. Based on these techniques, students create a cereal package. They present their package to their peers justifying their persuasive choices.

- Describe different methods for data collection and representation and evaluate the effectiveness of these methods to choose the most effective way to collect and present the data
- Construct data suitable displays from given or collected data with and without the use of digital technology.
- Recall multiplication facts to 10 x 10 and related division facts, connecting division to multiplication by using efficient and mental and written strategies
- Classify angles in relation to right angles using greater than or less then language and create angles
- Interpret information in maps using scale, legends and direction to find features on a map.
Science
The Beneath our Feet unit provides opportunities for students to explore how natural processes and human activity shape their surroundings. Students’ understanding of soils, rocks and landscapes and how they change over time is developed through hands-on activities and student-planned investigations. Students also investigate factors that affect the erosion of soils.
HASS
This semester students will work to answer the following Inquiry question:
How can people use environments more sustainably?
Students will used cartography and investigation skills to recognise the importance of the environment, including natural vegetation and identify the interconnections between the environment, animals and people. They will also identify the roles of local government and our community in environmental sustainability and propose an action plan for an identified sustainable practice for waste management.
HPE
4A, 4B and 4E students will be involved in a unit on Netball. Students will learn the skills, strategies and rules of the sport and practice these through modified netball games and activities. This unit provides activities for students to practice and develop fundamental skills such as passing, shooting, defending, player positioning and footwork required for successful game play. In Health, students will examine and interpret health information about cyber safety and online protocols. They will reflect on young people's use of digital technologies and online communities, and identify resources to support their safety.
4C and 4D students will be involved in a unit on T Ball. Students will learn striking and fielding skills and concepts in active play and games. They will apply strategies for working cooperatively and apply rules fairly. These students will be doing Health and Netball next term.

At the end of the term students participate in an improvised interview, in character, in front of their class.
Technology
In Technologies, students in Year 4 will create a Marble Run to investigate how forces and the properties of materials affect the behaviour of a product or system. Students collect data throughout the investigation, presenting results as a multimodal presentation.

- Pause empowers students to self-regulate their own behaviour by taking notice and acting on the signals they receive from their brain in a positive way.
- Wellbeiing underpins the way children feel about themselves and how they relate to others.
- Pause improves children’s wellbeing by teaching them about Neuroscience and Mindfulness.
Reading & Spelling
Our school continues to embed a whole school approach to reading and spelling across Prep to Year 6. This involves teaching the reading and spelling demands of the Australian Curriculum, providing students with a systematic synthetic phonics approach and unpacking the Big 6/Science of Reading through engaging and meaningful lessons. Students engage with decodable texts when learning to read and rich authentic texts when reading to learn and continue to use the PLD approach for their spelling and sound focus.
