Year 5 - 6 News from the Deputy

Year 3 - 4 News from the Deputy

Hello parents and carers. I can’t believe that we are already at the halfway point Term 3! There are so many exciting things happening in the Year 3/4 cohort and both students and teachers are working hard to make it yet another wonderful term!
Curriculum
Students are halfway through their English, Maths and Science for Term 3 and have made a start on their HASS which goes across both Term 3 & 4. I have already seen many wonderful pieces of work from students and they continue to amaze me with the work they produce each and every day and the learning is still not done, you should be very proud of their efforts.
Excursions
Both Year 3 and 4 have excursions coming up in the coming weeks. Our Year 3 students will be visiting the Beach as part of their Poetry unit in Week 6 and Year 4 the Waste Management Centre in Week 8. Year 3 parents, if you haven’t done so already, please be sure to return your child’s permission forms asap so they are able to attend.
Thank you for your continued support, have a lovely second half of the term,
Brooke Carmody
Deputy Principal Year 3 & 4
Prep - Year 2 News from the Deputy

What a busy and exciting term 3 we have been having. Year 1 have had the Fire Department out running their Fire Safety Course. Year 2 have had Zoo to You visit for their science and English units as well as the Cairns Museum incursion to learn about our past history for their HASS unit, and earlier this term, Prep celebrated 100 days of being at school. On the last day of this term P-2 will come together to celebrate everything great about being Under 8 with our annual Under 8s day celebration. All families with children under 8 are welcome to join us on this special day.
Prep Enrolments 2024
Enrolments for Prep 2024 are well underway with enrolment interviews about to start along with booking in for Stay and Plays at the start of term 4. To access these transition activities, you will need to have completed your enrolment paperwork requirements and have handed them in at the school administration. If you have a child born between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, please complete your enrolment form as soon as possible to ensure your child is a part of all our transition activities.
Head of Inclusive Education News

As parents and carers you play an important role in your child’s education and social emotional development, including supporting your child through the highs and lows and helping them feel positive about school. Some days children may feel happy and confident. At other times, they may appear sad, anxious, tired or overwhelmed. These are all typical responses as children grow and adjust to the school environment, while learning routines and expectations.
The organisations listed below can provide additional resources and information to support you and your child’s engagement at school:
Community Resource Unit Ltd (CRU)
The Community Resource Unit Ltd (CRU) is supported by the Queensland Department of Education to provide information to families about inclusive education . A range of resources are available, including a fact sheet (PDF, 761KB) about advocacy and meetings. This may help you when consulting with school about support services available.
CRU's "Families for Inclusive Education” (FFIE) projects helps parents and carers of children and young people with disability to be valued partners in their child’s education.
CRU help families:
- Develop a clear plan for your child’s school years
- Learn about inclusive education policies and supports
- Develop communication skills so you can work with your child’s school
- Build support groups with other families
CRU give free:
- Useful information, handouts, booklets and videos
- Workshops across Queensland (morning tea and lunch provided free of charge)
- Travel funding to help you attend if you live a long way from where a workshop is happening
- Online Zoom workshops
- Telephone information and help service
Their next online (Zoom) workshop is on Wednesday 30 August from 10 – 11:30am, the topic is ‘Valued Roles at school – finding a way to belong’. You can register by calling CRU on 07 38442211, emailing cru@cru.org.au or register at cru.org.au/events

Guidance Officer News

PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning is our Whole School Approach for behaviour
As you may have already read in previous notices, we have lots of positive things happening around behaviour and social and emotional learning at Trinity Beach in Term 3. These changes are all thanks to parent, staff and student feedback. We were fortunate enough to have a Social Worker Barbie join our team in Term 3 to help support student and both Barbie and our Guidance Officer Jenny are running an intensive 10 week Social and Emotional learning program for some of our students. In addition to this, we are also utilising our 2 Youth Support Workers to run programs for students targeting these areas as well. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to gain these skills, from Week 6, we are introducing the “Pause Program” in each of our classrooms. Some information has already gone out about this to parents about this and a parent information session will be advertised in the coming weeks for those who wish to learn a little more about the program and use some of the language and strategies at home. As we know, the link between home and school is critical to the development of children and together we can support them to become the best version of themselves 😊
Students role playing this weeks Focus Skill “Follow Before School Expectations”.

Q Parents
To continue to streamline the school’s sale for all items – school fees, excursions, performances, instrumental music we are moving to a cashless school. This allows our school to reduce the time, effort and expenses required to collect and follow up payments from parents and students. When you receive an invoice payments can be made online via BPOINT or QParents.
We are proud of being a relatively-cashless school and thank you for moving online with us!
QParents
QP is an online portal helping the school move toward a cashless and paper friendly school.
- The QP portal allows Parents and Carers to grant participation consent online for activities such as swimming and excursions which reduces our need to print out paper consent forms
- Also, the QP portal enables Parents and Carers to make payment online for school activities and viewing unpaid invoices payment history.
Thank you to all those parents who have registered for QParents. This means every registered parent now has the opportunity to access to their children’s student records at their fingertips, anytime, anywhere. Haven’t received an invitation from us yet? There’s still time! Please let us know immediately. Or if you are simply looking for further information, videos and FAQs on QParents, visit https://qparents.qld.edu.au
