Students match positions on maps with given information, and identify symmetry in the environment. Students make a model of a three-dimensional object and recognise angles in real situations.
Using unit fractions and multiplication
Students recall multiplication facts for single-digit numbers, solve problems using efficient strategies for multiplication, and model and represent unit fractions.

(Biological Sciences)
What is that? Is it alive? How is it like other things I know?
This unit provides opportunities for students to explore features of living things, and ways they can be grouped together. Through hands-on activities, students explore how living things can be grouped on the basis of observable features and can be distinguished from non-living things.
HASS
How and why are places similar and different?
In this unit, students identify connections between people and the characteristics of places. They describe the diverse characteristics of different places at the local scale and explain the similarities and differences between the characteristics of these places. Students interpret and record data, explain the purpose of rules in their community and share their views on an issue related to rule-making.
HPE
Students in year three will develop their fundamental movement skills to play the sport of soccer. They will learn how to dribble, pass, trap a ball and score goals.
Music

Visual Arts
This term in Visual Arts, year 3 students will continue to explore the seven elements of art. They will then use this knowledge to complete their very own art piece from different materials and mediums. This will communicate their ideas as an artist and wrap up our semester of art for 2023.
Drama

IEC
English: Students listen to, read, view and interpret traditional stories from different cultures. They explore the text structure focusing on the main characters, setting, the complication, and the resolution in each story. At the end of this term the students will read the traditional story, “Warnayarra the Rainbow Snake” and write their own story including images.
Maths: Students are using various counting strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems with numbers up to 30. The students will also interpret data representation to answer various questions. They will look at data via pictograms, tally charts, and bar charts. Students will also partition collections to show one half, for example, showing half of a shape or half of a group of objects.
Year 3 IEC students are working on the school-wide spelling program called PLD. Our students get a list of words every fortnight for which they locate the spelling patterns and read stories that utilise the words. We are also working hard to implement computer literacy for our students. They can all use their own logins and work, weekly, in small groups to improve their typing.
